Desire to have children, parentage and adoption

A further specialisation of our firm lies in advising on parentage law cases, such as in paternity recognition proceedings (“Vaterschaftsanerkennungsverfahren”) or paternity challenges (“Vaterschaftsanfechtung”). Furthermore, we also represent our clients in (foreign) adoption cases, surrogacy cases and sperm donation or egg donation cases in Germany.

More and more couples in Germany decide to realise their previously unfulfilled desire of having children by means of surrogacy. The realisation of such a surrogacy abroad leads to a number of complex legal issues. We support and advise you in drafting the according contracts with the clinics or the respective agencies until you return to Germany together. We also advise on any potential subsequent domestic adoptions, or the process of recognising legal parenthood in Germany.

We also have many years of experience in providing legal advice on the adoption of stepchildren, adult adoptions (including those involving inheritance or company law) and foreign adoptions. The adoption process is of considerable emotional importance for the (intended) parents and is legally complex. We are happy to support you and your family in this process.
